Special Programs
Lakewood Elementary has several special programs and extracurricular activities to enhance the students learning experience.Friends of Lakewood is the Dads group that helps with Field Day, Math Maniacs, LOLA and other "man power" support. Click here to check out their website.
The Lakewood Outdoor Learning Area is a program that sets Lakewood apart. Grants from the Texas Parks and Wildlife helped turn a creek into a living, outdoor science lab. Students learn about nature and wildlife in the LOLA.
Maniacs meets each Tuesday before school to sharpen our kids' mathematical skills and make math fun. The program is run by the Friends of Lakewood and at the end of the year the kids compete in a Math Olympiad.
The choir is available to students in the 3rd-5th grades. The choir won the 32nd Annual Choir Fun Fest in Dallas.
Coach Coleman provides clinics after school through out the year on various sports.
Students meet to learn about environmental awareness.
Students meet to study geography once a week during the Fall.
Students meet to study science and prepare for science competitions
Students study gardening with a heavy science focus once a week during the Spring.
Student teams of 4-6 students compete in local competitions using creative and logical reasoning skills.
