Message from Principal Thompson

Stallion Families,

This week we celebrated National School Counseling Week, which highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. This year the 2022 theme is School Counseling: Better Together. Our students practiced Leader in Me Habit 6, Synergize, by answering the counselor’s challenge with acts of kindness, responsibility, and respect. We appreciate and value your commitment and advocacy for all students. Thank you Ms. Cobb and Ms. Booth!

Next week is another week packed with joy and learning. We will celebrate our friendships Monday with our class parties and pink & red dress. In addition, we’ll be smiling bright for our spring pictures on Tuesday. Finally, it’s Random Acts of Kindness Week, and we’ll be challenging our community focus on those acts of kindness.

Let’s make it a great week of learning,

Principal Thompson

School Counseling Week

National School Counseling Week 2022, “School Counseling: Better Together,” will be celebrated from Feb. 7–11, 2022, to focus attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

School counselors work with all students to remove barriers to learning by addressing students’ academic concerns, career options and social/emotional skills,” said Jill Cook, American School Counseling Association executive director. “School counseling programs help to increase student achievement and provide a much-needed resource for students, parents, teachers and administrators. School counselors are integral to student success.

Lakewood will be hosting special events and activities all week in order to call attention to the countless benefits of a comprehensive school counseling program.
