Join us April 21 at 6pm in the Library!

For more information on joining the committee next year, please email lisa.schulgen@ltic.com

Staff Update: Front Office

Parents, instead of emailing Ana Escobedo regarding absences or attendance questions, please email Ms. Alba, our new registrar!!  Her email is sserna@dallasisd.org

And reminder- our hardworking staff prefers written notes for excused absences, so please remember to turn those into the front office!

UPDATE: Music Man Costume Approvals

Ms. Benton has determined that it would be more efficient for parents to take pictures of their children in costume and email her for approval / feedback at MFINLEYBENTON@dallasisd.org - this way she can provide detailed feedback that will not get lost in translation when she sends them back home with students.

Thank you for your patience as we stand up this new theater program and work through the large-scale logistics involved!   We are learning what works here through trial and error, but it's already shaping up to be an amazing performance!

LOLA Afterschool Volunteer Sign-up

The Lakewood Elementary PTA House Party & Auction is just around the corner on April 30th at Redfield's Tavern, and we need YOU to help raise funds for our school!

All proceeds from House Party directly enrich the educational experience of our kids by funding critical programming beyond what the district’s operating budget provides (e.g. field trips, the Lakewood Outdoor Learning Area, technology) and teacher wish list items (e.g. classroom manipulatives, educational materials, supplies).

Here's how you can help:

1. Donate an auction item by April 15!  We're looking for vacation homes, tickets, restaurant gift cards, experiences and more! If you have something you are willing to give to the cause, you may submit it through our google doc hereThe auction will be open to EVERYONE online even if you can't attend - stay tuned for details in eNews on how to bid.

2.  Buy a raffle ticket hereWe have a KILLER raffle this year with two items each worth nearly $1800! A Cartier Love Chain Link Bracelet in yellow gold and a Traeger Ironwood 885 Wood Pellet Wifi Grill and Smoker. Limited tickets available so get yours before they're gone!

3.  Donate to the Wine & Liquor Pull: Drop off a bottle of wine or liquor worth $25 or more at Wendy Covitz’s house (6612 Sondra) OR Venmo @Casey-Fisk and we'll buy the bottle for you!

THANK YOU for helping us raise critical funds for Lakewood! Feel free to email auctionparty@lakewoodelementary.net with any questions.

Check in at the front office and meet Lisa Dolliver (Dallas Arboretum) in the LOLA 5-10 minutes before your child's LOLA session starts for instruction. Volunteers may help with set up/clean up, take action photos, assist students with hands-on activities, etc.

Also, please leave your contact information when you sign up. (In case of inclement weather etc, Lisa may text you with a change in location, etc).

THIRD GRADE MUSICAL THEATER: “NEW VERSIONS / NEW VISIONS”

Student-created performances based on Prokofiev's PETER & THE WOLF, a Russian Symphonic Children’s Tale

3B Halasz

3C McMahon

Wednesday, April 20th at 6:30PM

3D Carpenter

3E Pedecini

3F Newberry

Thursday, April 21st  at 6:30PM

3G Johnson

3H Foxx

These student-created productions will be held in the auditorium and will feel like a "workshop" as these kids try out new creative skills.  Students will be selecting costumes from a community costume chest; any other guidance for costumes will be sent home from Ms. Benton and Mr. Reich.

6:30pm is the start time for presentations that will happen each night.  There will be a pause in between the separate classes to reset the stage, but no intermission.  We strongly discourage leaving or arriving at the midway transition point unless it is an emergency.  Actors may not leave until all classes have performed.

Please, no reserve or holding of seats except for Teacher Reserve Seating, which will be labeled.

ATTN: DISD'S COVID CONTACT TRACING & QUARANTINE POLICY IS STILL IN PLACE

Though masks are now recommended, the policies for contact tracing and quarantining remain in place.

For anyone testing positive, the district will follow the five-day isolation period recommended by the CDC. If students display symptoms, we ask their families to keep them at home.

A student is deemed a close contact if they are NOT wearing a mask and is within 3 ft of a confirmed positive student/child who is also not wearing a mask, or within 6 ft. of a mask less adult who is confirmed positive.

In case of close contact (without masks) with someone who has tested positive:

    • If the student is unvaccinated, quarantine them at home for five days and contact their health care provider.
    • If the student is fully vaccinated and not displaying any symptoms, they can return to school and must remain masked at all times.

Below is the link and QR code for parents to submit their child’s proof of vaccination, deadline to submit March 31st:

  • Click HERE access the form
  • Sign in using the student ID number and date of birth
  • Fill out the required information, including your email (e-card will be sent to that email)
  • Upload an image of the proof of vaccination (card, IMMTrac2, document from medical provider)
  • Submit the form
