Message from Principal Thompson

Dear Lakewood families,

Thank you for all of your support with our STAAR testing this week. The week was smooth, and our students did an outstanding job! Next week will be another big week of MAP testing for our K-2nd grade students. Please support us by making sure students are getting plenty of rest and bringing their charged devices to school each day.

As we begin to celebrate a great year together, we are looking forward to our Fun Fest events for our students either Wednesday or Thursday, as well as our Woodrow Senior Clap Out on Friday!

Thank you for another great week of learning.

Stallion Strong,

Principal Thompson

Thank you for your input as we have worked to create well-balanced classes for next school year. Considering some of the unknown possibilities that can come up over summer breaks, official placement and class assignments will be announced in late Summer of 2022

We will keep you posted on how you will learn who your child's teacher is for next school year!

Purchase a Memory Brick in front of Lakewood Elementary!

Lakewood Elementary PTA is excited to announce our annual memory brick campaign. Whether it is your first year or last year at Lakewood, a memory brick allows you to commemorate memories & leave a lasting legacy.

  • Recognize a graduating year
  • Honor a student, family or alumni
  • Join with your grade level or class for a group brick
  • Honor a special teacher, staff member or administrator
  • Remember a loved one

Memory bricks create a beautiful sidewalk entry at the front of our school. Each brick is 4" x 8" and includes 4 lines of all-caps text with 21 characters a line. Bricks are $40 each and 100% of proceeds benefit our students and staff.

Orders will be taken through May 18.

ATTN: DISD'S COVID CONTACT TRACING & QUARANTINE POLICY IS STILL IN PLACE

Though masks are now recommended, the policies for contact tracing and quarantining remain in place.

For anyone testing positive, the district will follow the five-day isolation period recommended by the CDC. If students display symptoms, we ask their families to keep them at home.

A student is deemed a close contact if they are NOT wearing a mask and is within 3 ft of a confirmed positive student/child who is also not wearing a mask, or within 6 ft. of a mask less adult who is confirmed positive.

In case of close contact (without masks) with someone who has tested positive:

    • If the student is unvaccinated, quarantine them at home for five days and contact their health care provider.
    • If the student is fully vaccinated and not displaying any symptoms, they can return to school and must remain masked at all times.

Below is the link and QR code for parents to submit their child’s proof of vaccination, deadline to submit March 31st:

  • Click HERE access the form
  • Sign in using the student ID number and date of birth
  • Fill out the required information, including your email (e-card will be sent to that email)
  • Upload an image of the proof of vaccination (card, IMMTrac2, document from medical provider)
  • Submit the form
