We are excited to celebrate the rich history, stories, and achievements of African Americans throughout our nation, state, county, district, and campus during Black History Month. Visit the website daily to see how we celebrate this year’s theme, “African Americans and the Arts." National School Counseling Week 2024 (#NSCW24) is Feb. 5-9 to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success. Here at Lakewood, we will celebrate NSWC by having themed days above with in school activities!

House Party raises money for items not covered by the school’s operating budget (think field trips, extra supplies for teachers and nurses, LOLA, theater program and more!).

The temps and rain caused carline to run more slowly this past week. Here are some friendly tips and reminders for how to get your Stallions in and out of school quickly and safely: 

Who: 2^nd-5^th grade

What: Roller Skating  

Where: Lakewood gym (PE days)

When: January 29 - February 16 

What do I need to roller skate? 

• Please have your child bring their own helmet on the days he/she comes to PE. If they do not have a helmet, one will be provided for them, however, it will be shared helmet. 
• Students must have on socks to roller skate. 
• Students will be provided wrist guards, but they may bring their own. 
• Must have a permission form turned in to skate.

On Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada; and Lakewood plans to celebrate in a BIG way!  All students in grades K-5 are invited to design a one-of-a-kind shirt for this special occasion. The winning shirt will be a limited time pre-order special design available in Lakewood’s Spirit Store and it will be printed on posters marking the event for all to see! FOL’s Camp Lakewood Spring 2024 takes us out to the astonishing cool Grady Spruce campground! We take over the camp for a weekend and enjoy the cabins that rest along the shores of Possum Kingdom Lake.
