NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
A Note from our School Nurse

Hi Lakewood Stallions,

Below you may find information that can help answer some of your questions regarding safety protocols.  If you have any questions, you may always e-mail or call me at rtregre@dallasisd.org or 972-749-7315.

ABSENCES DUE TO COVID:

You will need to contact the School Nurse, Rachel Tregre at rtregre@dallasisd.org or 972-749-7315 for your child’s absence to be excused. Nurse Rachel will let the CRC, admin and student’s teacher knowwhen student is allowed back to campus.

SICK STUDENT AT HOME:

If your student is sick at home, they should not come to school. Please assess your student daily at home before sending them back to school. As a reminder, if your student is sent home for fever, they should not come to school the next day. They should be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing measures (example: Tylenol).

MOST COMMON ILLNESS THIS MONTH:  Strep (see image for signs and symptoms of strep throat)

We appreciate everyone’s effort in keeping students who are sick at home and not exposing other students to illness.

As always,

Stay Stallion Strong!

Nurse Rachel Tregre, RN, B.S.N

Join us in front of the school by the marquee TOMORROW, Friday, February 9at 7:45am to kick off the Inclusion Project!  Wear your “Lakewood is Inclusive” or “Inclusion is my Jam” t-shirt! Our mission is so spread the spirit of inclusion and kindness across campus throughout the month of February and beyond!

National Random Acts of Kindness Week

During the week of February 12-17, Lakewood Elementary will be celebrating National Random Acts of Kindness Week.  The goal of this week is to improve schools, the workplace, families, and society through kindness.  National Random Acts of Kindness Week encourages us to put kindness first and share it everywhere we go.  Everyone needs a little kindness sometimes and we never know when to expect it.  Be the unexpected gift to someone this week.

Throughout this week we will have special activities for our students that help them focus on spreading kindness to others. To learn more about National Random Acts of Kindness week and to explore new ways of being kind, check out the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation at the following link:  https://www.randomactsofkindness.org

Girls on the run starts Monday!

Please note the days of the week have changed and it will now be held on Monday and Thursday.  Contact Ms. Carpenter with any questions:  kcarpenter@dallasisd.org.
