NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Please join the Dual Language program’s first ever Hispanic Heritage Celebration tonight on the sports court.  This celebration is for all Lakewood Elementary families.

Reminder that there is NO SCHOOL next Thursday, Friday and the following Monday (Oct 12-16!). We hope all our Stallions enjoy their Fall Break!

Please also remember that carpool is one lane until Hillbrook, and RESPECT the RED CURB!! Do not park in no parking zones during afternoon pick up. No parking designations are for safety and traffic flow purposes! Especially on Carolyncrest!!

Morning Attendance Message from Admin

Parents, please make sure your Stallions know to get to their classrooms by 8:05am in order to avoid a tardy. We are seeing students linger too long on the Sport Court, and not leave enough time for cafeteria breakfast and/or transitioning to their classrooms. Thank you for your cooperation!

2nd Grade Performance: October 19

5:30 Show

2B - Bolton, 2C - Dunn, 2E - Ollendike, 2H - Brooks

6:30 Show

2A - Prieto, 2D - Johnson, 2F - Lopez, 2G - Campbell

Students are to be dropped off at the cafeteria at 5pm if they are in the 5:30 Performance, and at 6pm if they are in the 6:30 Performance.

Please do not bring students earlier than the scheduled time as teachers will not be available to watch them prior to the above stated the arrival times.

You may drop off or order Fall Fest prizes and candy directly from our Amazon wishlist (select delivery to Ellen at 6543 Vanderbilt Ave). Thanks for helping to make Fall Fest (on Oct 22nd 2-6pm- wristbands available here!) great for our Stallions!

DON’T FORGET: Deadline - October 18. We now have less than $1,000 left to meet our goal. If you have not donated, this is your chance!!! Lots of competition this year for free dress day and class popsicle/pizza party. 3J has hit 100% - congratulations! Can you help push your class over the edge and get to 100% too!? Third grade - can you beat First grade for the free dress day?! In general, we are so grateful for all of the support! We recommend $150 per student but our ultimate goal is 100% student participation at ANY donation level. This is our only fundraiser for the entire school year - isn’t it nice not to have to sell anything?! One last thing, another call out for a new opportunity this year...donations at $500 or more will be invited to a special evening reception with Principal Thompson!  Thanks Lakewood for all you do to make LWE so great!

Lakewood families, our library will be open on Thursday, October 19, from 4:00-6:00. Our school library is part of Cohort 1 of Project READ. READ stands for research, explore, application, and design. We welcome you to stop by and see all the wonderful things happening in the school library!

We have three important celebration days coming up in our Lakewood calendar!

On October 18th, we will be wearing orange in honor of Unity Day, a day where we unite for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. You can learn more about Unity Day here:  Unity Day

On October 19th, we will be celebrating Character Counts Week by wearing the colors of the pillars of Character Counts by grade level. You can learn more about Character Counts Week here:  Character Counts Week.

Finally, on October 23rd, we will be wearing red to celebrate the kick-off of Red Ribbon week, a week where we celebrate our students making healthy choices. You can learn more about Red Ribbon Week here:  Red Ribbon Week

LWE recently participated in Education Go-Get-It Week, a DISD event geared towards helping our students envision their future educational/vocational opportunities and path. Teachers and Room Reps helped students decorate the doors of each classroom to represent different colleges. The students were then taken on a “college tour” around our building to view all of the creative and fun door designs. The week also included several dress up days and contests. It sure was a fun week! A big thanks to Ms. Cobb, Ms. Booth, the new PTA SEL Committee, and all the rom reps for making this happen! Let's congratulate all of our winners who will be celebrated on October 11!!
