Wednesday, April 17

SBDM at Lakewood Elementary

Calling all parents interested in joining the SBDM committee for the 2024-2025 school year! This committee serves as an advisory council to the principal. It is comprised of the campus principal, teachers, school staff, and parents. Committee selections will take place at our April meeting. If you’d like to learn more, please email sbdm@lakewoodelementary.net or read more here. The next SBDM meeting is April 11 at 7pm in the library, and anyone may attend.

It’s time to buy your yearbook! Head to this link to purchase your book and design your custom pages! Order deadline is 4/19!

Students can wear any Inclusion shirt or GREEN on Monday, March 25th!

This day serves as a platform to raise awareness about CP, support those living with the condition, and advocate for greater inclusion and understanding.

Kids Heart Challenge is HERE at Lakewood Elementary!

This week, we kicked our Kids Heart Challenge! During Kids heart Challenge, students will learn about heart healthy habits in PE and have an opportunity to help those with special hearts. You can help your student complete Finn’s Mission and learn hands-only CPR and how to identify the warning signs of a stroke. It is completely free to sign up, and students can earn thank you gifts if they make or receive a donation!

Click here to sign up your student!
You can also download the free app for iPhone or Android

Our school goal is to raise $50,000 in donations! These donations help fund medical advancements and treatment for heart disease and stroke. They also earn PE equipment for our school! So far, we have over 100 students who have already joined our Kids Heart Challenge team – way to go!

Inspire Others."Being someone who can save a life, that's a superpower if you ask me" - Damar Hamlin. See what he says about knowing CPR. Completing Finn’s Mission is the way to inspire friends and family to get healthier, learn CPR, and to spot a stroke.

Math Maniacs Olympiad is Tomorrow!

The Olympiad is the final and culminating event of the year for FOL’s Math Maniacs.  It is an annual in-school math competition between students in each grade (excluding kindergarten).  It is competitive and CRAZY FUN!

This voluntary competition will be open to all 1st through 5th-grade students.  Please encourage your kids to participate (even if they did not attend Wednesday Math Maniacs classes).

Participating students will assemble in the cafeteria on Friday (March 22) at the below times. FOL will then administer grade-level written tests to each child.

1st grade:                  8:15 - 8:45am

2nd grade:                 9:00 - 9:30am

3rd grade:                  9:45 - 10:15am

4th & 5th grades:       2:00-2:30 pm

We will present awards at school in May to our top 3 individual scorers at each level.  FOL will also award the best performing classes in each grade with a pizza party!
