Dear Lakewood Families,
April is here and there's a lot to celebrate at Lakewood. This week, we’re shining a spotlight on our amazing librarian, Ms. Pattillo, in honor of National School Librarian Day. From bringing books to life to curating rich, diverse stories that reflect our students' voices and experiences, Ms. Pattillo goes above and beyond to spark a love of reading on our campus. Whether she’s leading engaging lessons, helping students find their next favorite book, or organizing unforgettable author events, her passion for literacy truly makes Lakewood shine!
That love for reading ties directly into an important milestone this month: our 3rd–5th grade students will take the English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) STAAR test on Wednesday, April 9. These students have been working hard all year, and we are so proud of their progress. You can support your child by ensuring they get a good night’s rest, a healthy breakfast, and arrive on time ready to show their best effort.
From the library to the classroom, Lakewood students are growing as thoughtful, confident readers—and we’re cheering them on every step of the way!
Stallion Strong,
Principal Thompson
