Dear Lakewood Families,

This week has been such a wonderful reminder of how strong our home and school partnerships are. Our teachers have spent the past several days connecting with families during Parent Teacher Conferences, sharing student goals, growth, and celebrations. I want to thank each of our teachers for the time, care, and preparation that goes into these meaningful conversations, and I’m equally grateful to all of our families for showing up with such support and collaboration.

We also received our first round of data for grades 3, 4, and 5, and students are already making great strides toward their goals! Their progress reflects the effort happening every day in classrooms and the encouragement they feel from home.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers and families who came out for Fall Fest. The turnout was incredible, and it was such a joy to see our community come together for an evening of fun and celebration. A special shout out to Mrs. Scavuzzo and Mrs. Townsend for their outstanding work chairing the event and making it such a success.

Next week, we’ll be gearing up for Red Ribbon Week, a time when we celebrate healthy choices, kindness, and leadership. We can’t wait to see everyone join in the spirit days and activities our counselors and advisory committee have planned.

As always, thank you for your partnership, positivity, and commitment to our students. Lakewood continues to be a special place because of the shared energy and care of this community.

Stallion Strong,

Principal Thompson

Calling all Lakewood Elementary artists, writers, dancers, filmmakers, photographers, and musicians! The 2025 Reflections Art Program is open for submissions.

This year's theme is "I Belong" -- and we want to see how your child interprets the idea of belonging through their creative lens.

Whether it's a painting, a song, even a video made on your iPhone, this is their chance to share what belonging means to them.

Your child can submit in as many categories as they want. Some entries will advance to regional, state, and even national levels. Here's what you need to know:

  • All entries due November 14th
  • Each piece needs an official entry form
  • Your family must be a current PTA member to participate (not a member yet? Join today!)

Submit your work and completed entry forms to reflections@lakewoodelementary.net -- and reach out for any questions about submissions!
