Tomorrow is Career Day, and we are looking forward to seeing our students explore new possibilities and learn from so many of our community members. Thank you to all the parents and volunteers who are taking the time to share about their careers and experiences.

We also hope to see everyone at our upcoming Movie Night with the Lakewood community. It’s always a great time to relax together and enjoy an evening with family and friends. Bring your blankets, chairs, and school spirit!

This week’s This Is Home event was such a meaningful opportunity to learn more about the incredible programs at JL Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High School. It was inspiring to see how our students will continue to grow as Lakewood Leaders through each step of their educational journey!

A huge thank you to our LECPTA Auction Party Chairs (Dejah Fortenberry, Maddie Giamello, Ali Schultz, Megan Winder) and Home Tour Chairs (Dorothy DiOrio, Lauren Harrison, Whitney Huffman, Juliana Ziv) for planning an amazing weekend and raising funds that directly support our students and school community.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in making Lakewood such a special place to learn and grow.

Calling all Lakewood Elementary artists, writers, dancers, filmmakers, photographers, and musicians! The 2025 Reflections Art Program is open for submissions.

This year's theme is "I Belong" -- and we want to see how your child interprets the idea of belonging through their creative lens.

Whether it's a painting, a song, even a video made on your iPhone, this is their chance to share what belonging means to them.

Your child can submit in as many categories as they want. Some entries will advance to regional, state, and even national levels. Here's what you need to know:

Each piece needs an official entry form
Your family must be a current PTA member to participate (not a member yet? Join today!)

Calling all 4th Graders!!

Come to the Sport Court on Sunday, November 16 at 4:30 PM to do a quick campus clean-up and earn a FREE DRESS PASS!

Our Lakewood Counselors are excited to announce our Holiday Angel Program, where you have the opportunity to become a sponsor and bring joy to a child this holiday season. By purchasing gifts from a child's wish list, you can make a meaningful difference in their life.

If you would like to volunteer and become a sponsor, please scan the QR code and complete the form by Friday, November 21. Once you have signed up to sponsor an angel, you will receive an email containing information regarding your angel's wishes, how gifts should be packaged, and when and where to drop off the gifts.

Thank you for considering being a part of this wonderful initiative. Your generosity and kindness will make a significant impact on a child's holiday experience.

TC Classroom - Functional Play Fridays

The TC Classroom is kicking off Functional Play Fridays—a fun new way for students to build imagination, social skills, and creativity through themed play like cooking, music, shopping, and dress-up!

We’re collecting gently used or new pretend play items to make these Fridays extra special. Donations can be dropped off at Lakewood or emailed about at Britjohnson1@dallasisd.org.

5:30pm - 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E

(Drop off at 5:15pm in the cafeteria, fully dressed)

6:15pm - PTA Meeting

6:30pm - 1F, 1G, 1H, 1J, 1L

(Drop off at 6:15pm in the cafeteria, fully dressed)

Dress: Students should wear all black clothing (shirts, pants, skirts, or dresses) and may wear accessories (i.e. scarves, hats, bows, ties, etc) with Thanksgiving colors – brown, orange, or red. Have fun with the theme!

Twice a month we stock the workroom with snacks & beverages to show our teachers & staff some extra love! Each month there will be a sign up genius sent out per grade. Thank you 1st grade for stocking in November! Click image above to tell us what you would like to contribute on either 11/3 or 11/17. And, thank you 2nd grade for handling October!!

The Book Fair is NEXT WEEK!

You can find information for setting up an eWallet account for your student on our book fair website. The Book Fair is CASHLESS!

The classes will go and have a preview of the book fair during their library time. Students will tell their teacher they have money to spend and they will go individually (or as a small group) to the library during free time. There will also be opportunities to shop as a family after school Monday to Thursday.

If you sign up for an 8:00 am shift, please arrive early at 7:45 am. Thank you!

We still have slots available on the SUG for 2nd & 3rd grade Lunch Buddies! Don't forget to sign up to enjoy lunch with your child!

Peace Pantry Thanksgiving Meals

Donate a gift card today to help a Peace Pantry family complete their Thanksgiving meal. Lakewood chapters of National Charity League and the Young Men’s Service League have donated Thanksgiving bags for our families so that they can prepare the accompaniments. The only thing left is adding a gift card so families can purchase a turkey!
