Dear Lakewood Families,

It has been so good having everyone back on campus this week. The building feels like itself again, and our students have slipped back into their routines with so much ease. Teachers have been sharing small moments from their classrooms, and it has reminded me how sweet and joyful elementary school can be. With the morning chatter, proud smiles during lessons, the little celebrations that happen all day long, it has been a refreshing return.

I also want to share how proud I am of our students for the way they approached their iReady testing. Their growth was incredible. We celebrated their gains together during our staff meeting on Tuesday, and it was inspiring to see how much their hard work is showing up in their progress!

With the colder weather moving in this week our hallways have been full of cozy jackets and excited little faces, and it has been a good reminder of how much kindness matters this time of year. Thank you for helping us encourage warm hearts and friendly moments throughout our campus. Small acts really do brighten our school.

Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your amazing children with us each day.

Stallion Strong,

Principal Thompson

2026 Bond Survey

The Bond 2026 survey link is now live and linked below.  DISD is currently gathering community input on the improvements and changes you would like to see on your campus, and your feedback is essential.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey as your response will have a direct impact. Survey will close on December 16.

At the end of the survey, there is a section for comments. This is a great place to share feedback specific to Lakewood Elementary and highlight the needs most important to our community.

Thank you so much for your support!  Contact sbdm@lakewoodelementary.net if you have any questions.

TC Classroom - Functional Play Fridays

The TC Classroom is kicking off Functional Play Fridays—a fun new way for students to build imagination, social skills, and creativity through themed play like cooking, music, shopping, and dress-up!

We’re collecting gently used or new pretend play items to make these Fridays extra special. Donations can be dropped off at Lakewood or emailed about at Britjohnson1@dallasisd.org.

Lakewood Campout: Big Weekend, Bigger Impact

This year’s Lakewood Fall Campout was a core memory-packed weekend we’ll never forget. Hundreds of dads and kids took to the shores of Possum Kingdom Lake for endless hikes, archery, s’mores, glow-stick chaos…and of course, dads connecting while the kids roamed free.

You made a big impact! Thanks to campout registrations and raffle ticket purchases, FOL funded brand-new soccer goals for the field at LWE!

Better equipment means better recess, better PE, and better games — something the entire school will enjoy for years to come!

This is what happens when dads show up:  a weekend of memories turns into real upgrades for our kids.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out, pitched in, and made it happen.

Help us keep the momentum going! Join FOL now!

Kickstart your Wednesdays with our before-school Math Maniacs Program, where dads and kids team up to tackle numbers, share donuts, and spark a love of learning. Volunteer to make a difference—help teach math, create memories, and strengthen the heart of our school community! Dates are listed above.
