Dear Families,

As we head into our winter break, I want to take a moment to thank our families for the partnership, encouragement, and joy you bring to Lakewood each day. These next two weeks offer a chance for all of us to pause, rest, spend time with those we love, and reflect on what a meaningful calendar year it has been for our school community.

When I look back on the first half of our school year, there is so much to be proud of. Our students have shown incredible academic and personal growth, our teachers continue to pour their energy into creating engaging learning experiences, and our staff has worked together with such heart to make our campus feel welcoming and supportive. From strong i-Ready growth, to beautiful campus events, to students stepping up as leaders in their classrooms and around the building, the wins have been steady and encouraging. I am so grateful for the way our families show up for our school.

I am also reminded every day of how special this community is. Whether it is a coat drive, a food drive, or coming together to support our staff members or students during challenging times, Lakewood families give generously and consistently. Your willingness to care for one another is one of the many reasons I love being a part of this community. It truly feels like a place where people lift each other up.

I hope winter break brings your family rest, connection, and time to enjoy the season. We cannot wait to welcome our students back in January and continue the wonderful work ahead.

Thank you for being such an important part of Lakewood. See you in 2026!

Stallion Strong,

Principal Thompson

‘Twas the night before winter break

And all through the gym,

The fans were cheering

For their Wildcats to win!

With school out for weeks

And no bedtime in sight,

Let’s cheer Woodrow to victory

And to all, a good night!

Kick off winter break with the excitement of Woodrow Boys’ Basketball!  Festive holiday attire is encouraged!  We look forward to seeing you in your ugly sweaters, reindeer antlers and Santa hats as Woodrow takes on West Mesquite, and enjoy special holiday treats at the concession stand!
