Dear Lakewood Families, It has been a full and meaningful few weeks on our campus, and I continue to feel grateful for the way our community shows up for one another. The third grade performance was a true highlight. Our students did such a wonderful job sharing their learning and talents on stage. Their confidence, preparation, and teamwork were evident, and we are so proud of the way they represented Lakewood. Thank you to our teachers and staff who helped prepare them and to our families for cheering them on and supporting their hard work. I also want to express my appreciation for your flexibility and understanding as we adjusted for missed weather days and rescheduled parent conferences and events. Changes to schedules are never easy, and your partnership allows us to keep learning moving forward for all students. A quick reminder that Picture Day is tomorrow. Please send students in their school uniforms and ready with their biggest smiles. We love capturing these memories together. As we celebrate Black History Month across campus, students will be learning about leaders whose courage, determination, and perseverance helped open doors for future generations. As Booker T. Washington once said, “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.” This message speaks to the resilience we work to build in our students every day as they grow, learn, and support one another. Families of students in grades 3rd-5th grades, please see below for information about our Oratory Competition. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their voice, confidence, and public speaking skills. All students are welcome to participate in the optional dress up days listed below. Thank you for your continued partnership and for all you do to support our Lakewood community. We are grateful to be on this journey together. Stallion Strong, Principal Thompson |

Family Input Form for the '26-'27 School Year Class Assignments As we begin the process of looking ahead to creating well balanced classes for the 2026-2027 school year, we would like to streamline input provided by families through this form. Please know that we are not able to take specific teacher requests, nor student friend requests. As we work through this process, we keep our Lakewood Vision at the forefront: We are a community of leaders, valued individuals and problem solvers, who advocate for all. Note this will be viewed and analyzed by the current Lakewood Staff. We ask that you refrain from any disparaging comments and remain focused on your student's needs. Our team is looking for input on students’ needs regarding structure, social emotional support, and other factors that may contribute to their success. This form will close at noon on Friday, February 6, 2026. As a reminder the process of placing students in their new homeroom classes is very important to us, and we take a holistic approach. Please note that we do not honor specific teacher requests.
Once class placements are released prior to Meet the Teacher in August, please address any concerns following these steps: First, reach out directly to the teacher with any concerns or needs regarding your child's experiences. At Lakewood we value feedback, and the opportunity to collaborate together and improve for your child’s success. If after reaching out to the teacher you still have concerns, please contact their respective administrator.

Cold Weather, Carpool Lines, and Tardy Slips oh my! A friendly reminder to allow yourselves a little extra time for carpool on these chilly mornings! A few less Stallions are walking to school in these colder temps, so the carpool lines are longer and take more time. Also, please remember to be patient and stay in a single file line on the right side of Lake Circle until you come to the curve at Hillbrook and can choose to drop off in either the red or blue lane. School begins at 8:00 am and tardy slips are issued at 8:05 am. |
