Dear Lakewood Families,
I want to take a moment to recognize our fifth grade students for the focus and perseverance they showed during their Science STAAR assessment yesterday. They approached the day with a strong mindset and worked hard from start to finish, and we are proud of the effort they put in.
As we look ahead, students in grades 3 through 5 will complete their final STAAR assessments on Wednesday, April 22. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child come to school rested, on time, and ready to do their best each day. Your support and encouragement truly make a difference.
We are also excited for our PTA House Party fundraiser this Saturday. We are so grateful for the families and community members who continue to show up and support our school in meaningful ways. Because of this strong partnership, we are able to create special experiences for our students, support our teachers, and continue building a strong team for our campus.
As we begin planning for next year, this is a friendly reminder to complete your student’s registration for the upcoming school year. Early registration helps us plan ahead and ensure we are set up to support all of our students well. More information is included below.
We are also beginning to think ahead to staffing for next year and have already met some wonderful candidates. It is always encouraging to see such strong educators interested in joining our Lakewood community, and we look forward to continuing to build a team that will serve our students well.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our wonderful school!
Stallion Strong,
Principal Thompson
Registration for the '26-'27 school year is OPEN!
Our elementary school is an award winning part of DISD, and we want to make sure every student gets the best start possible! Class sizes can shift from year to year, so the sooner you complete your enrollment, the better the district and our school administration team can prepare and make sure we have amazing teachers ready to welcome your child.
Click here to view the video with guidance on how to complete enrollment. There is also a flyer below.
Each family will create a SchoolMint account. Your student will be issued an id number that is used throughout their term with DISD. Proof of residency, personal identification, and vaccination information will be uploaded as part of enrollment.
You have until midnight on 4/28 to edit your custom pages (2 free) in your already purchased yearbook.
If you haven't ordered one yet, the deadline to order is 4/29. You have until 4/28 to add custom pages, but you will not receive 2 free pages.
Any orders placed after 4/29 will incur an additional charge. Also, they will not be delivered to the school and your student will miss out on getting classmate signatures.
WHY SHOES? At Funds2Orgs, impact starts with the simple act of collecting shoes to help local organizations raise funds. What happens next becomes a cycle of social good—rooted in sustainability and the reuse economy. Our fundraising model raises funds locally while supporting the environment by keeping millions of pairs of shoes out of landfills and redirecting them to global communities, where they fuel small businesses in developing countries. This isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s a movement.
We will take care of packaging up the shoes. You just need to clean out those closets and drop off!
Calling all KINDER Families to help contribute to our monthly teacher & staff lunch!
Drop off your emptied eggs by 4/17 to be recycled for next year!
If you have volunteered in our school this year, you are invited to the Volunteer Breakfast hosted by our Administration. Please RSVP here.

On Friday, April 10, FOL hosted the Father Daughter Spring Soiree and what a fabulous turnout they had! They raised over $10,000 to help support our school while creating memories that will last a lifetime. We are so thankful for FOL's constant support and excitement for our school.

What can the Bond money be used for?
By law, bond funds can only be used for "capital" projects (construction and equipment). They cannot be used for the District’s daily operating budget, which includes salaries, utilities, and fuel. Bonds are the only means in Texas to access funding for construction needs.
