Dear Lakewood Community,

Saturday was the most epic night at Birdies for our Lakewood Elementary community! This was the 10th Anniversary of House Party, and the event has grown into a can't-miss night. It was so fun to walk around and see so many friends and familiar faces that I see at morning dropoff, afternoon pickup, or at school musicals and events.  Rather than rushing around to get to the next thing, this was a night that we could all just hang out, have a great time, and raise money to continue to provide the support our school, students, and teachers need. House Party, our biggest night of the year, would not be possible without the dedication of so many.

I want to extend my sincere thanks to this incredible group for the hard work, dedication, and energy you brought to making House Party such a success. Your commitment truly made a difference, and it did not go unnoticed.

Melissa Crosby & Katie Peck – for leading an incredible event, securing sponsors, organizing auction items, coordinating Teacher of the Day, and creating a night to remember

Ashley Youngblood – for finding the perfect venue at Birdies and making this event feel right at home in our neighborhood

Amanda Brewer – our Auction Champ, whose organization and attention to detail kept everything running smoothly

Constance Cherones, Megan Cox & Abby Eagan – for supporting every step of the way and helping bring it all together

Genniva Bruce, Stephanie Bowen Wright & Lauren Wesley – for paving the way, offering guidance, and supporting this year’s chairs

Thank you to the House Party Committee who supported our chairs, gathered the auction items and helped to spread the word.

Abby Hernandez, Amanda Stavinoha, Amberlee Covington, Amy Vanderbilt, Caroline Fox, Colleen Fazio, Dejah Fortenberry, Elizabeth Stabler, Gina Prudhomme, Jacqueline Howard, Jacqueline Petrakis, Kaki Irving, Katy Lopez, Kellie Rothman, Kristen Neyland, Lauren Harrison, Lauren Nelson, Lauren Smalley, Mandy Campbell, Natalie Mize, Nicole Wong, Olivia Claiborne, and Veronica Cartwright.

Thank you Skylar Champion Real Estate Group for being our presenting sponsor and always supporting our school throughout the year.

It truly takes a village, and this community continues to show up in the most incredible ways. Thank you for making Lakewood such a special place for our students and staff.

Shannon Stuart, PTA President

Registration for the '26-'27 school year is OPEN!

Our elementary school is an award winning part of DISD, and we want to make sure every student gets the best start possible! Class sizes can shift from year to year, so the sooner you complete your enrollment, the better the district and our school administration team can prepare and make sure we have amazing teachers ready to welcome your child.

Click here to view the video with guidance on how to complete enrollment.  There is also a flyer below.

Each family will create a SchoolMint account. Your student will be issued an id number that is used throughout their term with DISD. Proof of residency, personal identification, and vaccination information will be uploaded as part of enrollment.

The Lakewood PTA has voted to endorse the 2026 Bond election, and we encourage you to vote in favor of all four propositions. As you may be aware, Dallas ISD is having a Bond Election this spring.  Early voting has begun and runs through April 28, 2026.  Election Day is Saturday, May 2.If approved, the proposed bond would benefit Lakewood students directly, through renovations and site upgrades to support Lakewood's growing student population.  The one-page summary of Lakewood-related proposals is available here.

More broadly, if approved by voters, the proposed bond would support all Dallas ISD students by:

  • Building 26 new replacement schools
  • Providing renovations and upgrades at all campuses
  • Removing all remaining portable classrooms
  • Implementing safety and security upgrades districtwide
  • Upgrading student technology
  • Redirecting resources back to classrooms by refinancing loans
  • Repairing the district’s swimming pools

More information is available from DISD here.

Here are the updated important deadlines:

We are celebrating Earth Week with a Shoe Drive and will continue to collect until May 8!

WHY SHOES?  At Funds2Orgs, impact starts with the simple act of collecting shoes to help local organizations raise funds. What happens next becomes a cycle of social good—rooted in sustainability and the reuse economy. Our fundraising model raises funds locally while supporting the environment by keeping millions of pairs of shoes out of landfills and redirecting them to global communities, where they fuel small businesses in developing countries. This isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s a movement.

We will take care of packaging up the shoes.  You just need to clean out those closets and drop off!
