NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Fall Fest is almost here y'all, we are excited to see everyone having so much fun on Saturday. If you didn't get a chance to pre-order your child's wristbands, we will have tickets for purchase at the entrance. Pre-ordered wristbands can be picked up at 6631 Sunnyland through today from 2:30-3:30pm, or on Saturday at entrance ticket tables.

We still need volunteers to make the day so much fun, so scan the QR code or click the link Fall Fest Volunteer Sign Up - your middle or high schoolers that need hours can sign up too!

Cake Walk donations can be dropped off Friday at the front of the school between 9-12 or bring them with you to Fall Fest and drop off at Cake Walk. We need store-bought treats or small toys, it is a super popular activity so we need lots!

Any questions? Just email the Fall Fest Committee at fcarnival@lakewoodelementary.net.

FOL Haunted House @ Fun Fest!

Lakewood parents! We need you! Come out and help us scare our Lakewood kids this Saturday. We need help with getting the coffins and zombies into the hallway and setting up the strobe lights! We also need parents dressed to scare! We even have costumes for you if you don't! Pick an hour and come out to help. Sign up here. Big thanks from FOL!

3rd and 4th Graders, sign up HERE for your turn doing Campus Clean Up! Bring your own water and meet on the sport court.

Student Survey

On Wednesday, October 19, 3rd-5th grade Stallions will be participating in a short online survey through Panorama Education. The survey content will ask students to self-reflect on their own social emotional learning skills, like self-management and self-efficacy.

This data is crucial as we work to meet not only student academic needs, but also social/emotional needs. The feedback will provide invaluable insights into student experiences and how to improve and adapt our school to their needs.

If you have any question or concerns about the survey administration, don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Booth, our 3-5 school counselor at 972-749-7319 or dbooth@dallasisd.org.

Have you been wondering what all of this Home Tour talk is about? Let us tell you! For the past 46 years, the LECPTA has been putting on the Lakewood Home Tour - a collection of 6 breathtaking homes in the Lakewood community, that combine a variety of architectural styles with a mix of interior design to create the perfect blend of homes that has a little something to offer for everyone! Attending the tour is an amazing way to give back to our community, so grab some friends, grab some tickets and we will see you on tour, the weekend of November 12th & 13th!

PREVIOUSLY SHARED INFORMATION

October is Rett Syndrome Awareness Month. This month Lakewood Elementary will honor the loving memory of one of our very own Stallions, Virginia Lang. As we remember her during this very special month, Lakewood Elementary is collaborating with a close family friend to install a memorial bench in honor of Virginia. During the month of October, we are encouraging families to donate in Virginia's memory to the Rett Syndrome Research Trust, a non-profit organization that we admire a great deal for its bold approach to advancing research on Rett Syndrome. The RSRT provides so much love and support for children like Virginia and their families.

Donations can be made online at https://reverserett.org/donate/

Please click “In memory of” and write in Virginia’s name.

Or you can make your contribution by mailing a check made out to RSRT to:

(Please write “Virginia Lang” on the memo line)

2nd Grade Performance

Attention, 2nd Grade Parents! The 2nd Grade Performance will be the evening of Thursday, October 20th in two sections based on your child's teacher:

5:30pm - Strifler, Dunn, Ollendike and Lang

6:30pm - Campbell, Johnson, Brooks and Lopez

2A will be performing with the Class with which they attend specials. Mr. Reich and Ms. Prieto will share those details with 2A parents.

More information to come via grade level emails. Please note the General PTA Meeting will be at 6pm, in between the two performances, so plan to stay after or come early to hear what's going on and how to get involved.

The Counseling Department is looking forward to supporting your scholar's social-emotional, academic, and career development growth this year.  Could you please complete this brief survey to help us plan and develop quality programs that best meet the needs of your scholar and family?  Your input is valuable, and your responses are anonymous. Click the image above or here to access the survey. Thank you for your time!

Parents will be notified either way by letter on October 21st.
