Need Fifth Grade Photos and Quote for Yearbook- Due 4/14!!!!

Hey Fifth Grade Parents!

Yearbook committee here. As we ramp up to the end of the year and the LAST one for our fifth graders, we need a few things from you guys!

1. We need photos of your fifth grader! We need flashbacks, candids, fifth-grade trip, and any other ones you deem fit once you see the folders. Here’s where they need to go, and how to upload them:

- Click on this link and login into your TreeRing account. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN ACCOUNT, you’ll need to start one, using this same link. The Lakewood code is 1016003731184401

- You will be in the content section and able to see the various folders. Go into the folder you want (ex: 5th Grade Candids), and click "Add Photos" in the top right. You can add photos from a computer, Facebook, Instagram, etc. So add away!

2. The second thing we need is a short quote from your 5th grader that centers on their future. What do they want to be? What do they hope to achieve? Have them fill out this google form.

PLEASE HAVE ALL MATERIALS TO US BY APRIL 14th!!!!!!!!!  If you submit them after that, unfortunately, we won’t be able to put them in the yearbook.

Thanks, everyone! Can’t believe we have almost junior high kids! Send any questions our way,

Sloan Dix (looneyes@gmail.com) and Carissa Byers

Updated DISD School Calendars

Last week, the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2023-24 and 2024-25 base school calendars. A survey was sent to families and Dallas ISD team members to seek input on how the calendar should be structured. An additional survey was sent in January to ask families and team members if they would prefer to start school after Tax-Free Weekend. Approximately 77% requested the start date be moved to the Monday after Tax-Free Weekend instead of August 9.

The calendars incorporate a start date after Tax Free Weekend, a mini fall break for campus team members, and an end date prior to Memorial Day.

2023-2024 Calendar Highlights

  • Teacher start date is August 3
  • Student start date is August 14
  • October 12-13 are Fall Break and Fair Days
  • January 9 is the first day back for students after winter break, rather than January 10
  • May 24 is a half-day student instructional day and a half-day teacher workday with this being the last day for both students and teachers
