A Message from Principal Thompson

Dear Families,

As we come to the end of our outstanding 22-23 school year, we celebrate all the growth, learning and joy throughout our hallways and classrooms each day! I am so proud of each of our students for their commitment to embracing effort, determination, and willingness to advocate for others. As our fifth graders transition to middle school, we are thinking of them and their incredible futures ahead of each of our 5th grade Stallions.

Throughout our school year, it has been an honor to witness the leader in each one of our students shine bright and develop. At Lakewood we truly are a community of leaders, valued individuals and problem solvers who advocate for all. We rise when we fall, exhibit empathy and celebrate diversity together, and this makes us a special community! Of course, this year wouldn’t have been successful without the outstanding generosity, support, and encouragement from our parents, volunteers, and community members. Thank you to our Lakewood families for making our school such a unique and special places! To our phenomenal teachers who lead the way for our Stallions each and every day, thank you for your incredible work this year!

This summer I hope you rest, rejuvenate and revitalize for a wonderful 23-24 school year together!

Stallion Strong,

Principal Thompson

STAAR TESTING REDESIGN REPORTING UPDATES

The spring 2023 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) has been redesigned to align closer to classroom instruction and the unique ways students learn. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has indicated that reporting final test results for the redesigned STAAR will take a bit longer this year because educators from across the state will meet to provide their expert opinions on the passing scores for the redesigned assessments.

TEA has created resources regarding the spring 2023 STAAR reporting timelines.

STAAR 3-8 Reporting Timelines

  • On August 11, 2023, districts can access STAAR 3-8 scale scores, performance levels, and STAAR Report Cards and make decisions regarding a student.
  • On August 16, 2023, STAAR 3-8 results for families will be made available in the Family Portal.

The new Family Portal was launched on January 2, 2023, and is available for parents to view test scores for the Texas Assessment Program. The portal can be accessed via the Texas Assessment.gov website, https://www.TXFamilyPortal.org, or by using the single sign on feature in PowerSchool.
