Dear Stallion Families, As we send our students into a well-deserved summer break, I want to take a moment to reflect on the year we’ve shared together. It’s hard to believe how quickly the months have passed. From the excitement of the first day of school to the final award ceremony and fifth grade clap out this afternoon, this community has grown, stretched, and shown incredible heart. This year brought both joy and challenges, and through it all, our students continued to amaze us with their resilience, creativity, and kindness. Whether it was their performances on stage, their hard work in the classroom, their acts of friendship on the playground, or their quiet moments of perseverance, they gave us so much to be proud of.. To our families, thank you for being our partners. Cheering from the sidelines, volunteering your time, supporting your children at home, and staying connected through each twist and turn of the year. Your trust and collaboration mean more than words can express, and we are truly grateful. To our staff, thank you for showing up every day with passion and purpose. Your dedication to our students is at the heart of everything we do, and your efforts have made Lakewood not just a school, but a second home for so many. As we look ahead to summer, I hope it’s filled with rest, laughter, and moments of connection with the people you love. As always, we’ll be here preparing for another year of learning, growth, and community. Wishing you a joyful and restful break. Stallion Strong, Principal Thompson |

Exciting News from Principal Thompson |
Dear Lakewood Families,
We are excited to share some incredible news that will benefit every student, staff member, and visitor who steps onto our campus. Our field is getting a major upgrade!
Thanks to a strong partnership between Dallas ISD and our amazing PTA, we are excited to announce that a full field renovation is officially underway. The project includes complete resodding, a brand new irrigation system, and the addition of a concrete walkway path to keep those muddy shoes at bay on rainy days. These improvements will enhance both the appearance and functionality of our campus, making it safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable for everyone. You will begin to see construction the day after school ends, and we ask that we keep all foot traffic off of the field this summer to allow our grass to grow. We are grateful to Dallas ISD for investing in the heart of our school grounds and to our PTA for their continued support and advocacy in bringing this vision to life. This project is another example of what can happen when a community works together for the benefit of our students. We cannot wait to see our students playing, learning, and enjoying this beautiful new space very soon! |

| Wade Johns is the outgoing president of Lakewood Elementary’s Friends of Lakewood (FOL). The FOL dads group is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of the students at Lakewood Elementary School. Prior to serving as FOL President, Wade was Vice President, Crossing Guard Captain and Social Chair.
As the leader of FOL, Wade has helped bring fun events and activities to Lakewood families this year, including the infamous Camp Lakewood campout weekends, Father/Daughter Dance and Mother/Son Dance. FOL also brings big FUN to Fall Fest with its iconic Haunted Hallway, a highlight of the carnival!
To help enhance the educational experience at the school, FOL hosts Math Maniacs on Wednesday mornings, providing grade level lessons in math, and the end-of-year Math Olympiad. The group also supports teachers with its end-of-year banquet and Staff Appreciation Fund.
To top it off, all year long, FOL Crossing Guards keep our students safe and put a smile on their faces, by wearing wacky costumes and playing fun music bright and early for school arrivals.
Wade has worked hard to successfully schedule and coordinate these events with school administration, teachers, parents and PTA leaders. He’s also the proud dad of three girls – Caroline, Grace and Kate.
Lakewood Elementary PTA, a chapter of Texas PTA, is thrilled to name Wade Johns a Lifetime Member, for his outstanding service at Lakewood Elementary. |
