Lakewood families,
We are proud to share that our students completed the final round of STAAR simulation testing today. Our third through fifth graders approached both Reading and Writing simulations with focus, perseverance, and a strong work ethic. We continue to be impressed with the effort students are putting forth and the growth we are seeing across grade levels.
Over the coming weeks, teachers will carefully analyze the data to celebrate progress and identify targeted areas of support. This intentional planning will help ensure students feel confident and well prepared as we approach final STAAR assessments in April. We are grateful for the way our students continue to rise to expectations and for the partnership we share with families in supporting their success.
As a reminder, our campus has been selected by Dallas County to serve as a polling site for Election Day on Tuesday, March 3. Under the Texas Election Code, public buildings such as schools are required for use as polling places, and districts are not permitted to prohibit this use.
Please be assured that instruction will continue as normal and learning will not be disrupted. Student safety remains our highest priority.
To ensure a secure and smooth school day: - Students will continue to enter and exit through the front and back entrances as usual.
- Voters and community members will enter and exit through the library side entrance and will only have access to the library.
- Voters are restricted to the designated polling area and will not interact with students. Our team has made adjustments to access control, staffing, supervision, and campus systems to reinforce safety throughout the day.
- An officer will be on site throughout the day to ensure campus and community safety.
- Due to voter traffic, we anticipate possible delays in the carpool line. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and support. We are grateful to serve this incredible community and look forward to a strong and successful week ahead. Stallion Strong, Principal Thompson |

By participating in Kids Heart Challenge, students will learn how to keep their hearts, bodies and brains healthy while helping kids with special hearts live longer, healthier lives. It's a fun and meaningful way for our students to learn lifelong habits of health and helping others, while supporting and earning rewards for our school. Join us in spreading kindness, building healthy habits, and making a lasting difference. Together, we can create a healthier future, one heart at a time. |

Bond 2026 Update On Thursday, February 12, the Dallas ISD trustees sent a $6.2 billion bond proposal to voters in May. The proposal has been developed over the past year with the help of the Citizens Bond Steering Committee, whose members were appointed by the board. If approved by voters, the $6.2 billion bond would: - build 26 brand-new replacement schools at these campuses
- renovate and modernize all campuses (see proposed scope by campus)
- remove the district's 700 remaining school portables (used by nearly 10,000 students)
- upgrade safety and security at all campuses
- update school furniture
- upgrade student technology and purchase new school buses
- upgrade physical education facilities
- repair the district's swimming pools
The bond would be broken up into four propositions on the May ballot, A, B, C, and D. Here’s a link where you can learn more. Prop C would allow the district to refinance $143 million in debt, giving the district the ability to redirect more resources back to classroom operations. |
Important Reminder about SB9 Parent Opt In Forms Earlier this year, Dallas ISD emailed families an SB9 Opt in Parent Consent Form. If you have not already done so, please take a moment to check your email and complete the form. The district provides age-appropriate health and safety lessons aligned to Senate Bill 9 standards, including topics such as personal safety, prevention of child abuse, family and dating violence, and other safety related instruction. Lessons are carefully reviewed by the Dallas ISD School Health Advisory Council and are tailored to each grade level. Students will only participate in this instruction if a parent or guardian opts them in. Students who are not opted in will receive an alternative lesson during that time. You can review the curriculum by grade level here. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Coach Coleman at lycoleman@dallasisd.org. Thank you for taking a few minutes to review and submit your preference. |

All field rental requests must be submitted through Dallas ISD Real Property Management. Prior to submitting a request, please email Jonathan Campbell at joncampbell@dallasisd.org so we can ensure your request is accounted for, approved, and supported if we have the capacity.
