Dear Lakewood Families,
What a wonderful start of September it has been at Lakewood! Picture Day went so smoothly last Friday, and our students shined with their best smile. Thank you to everyone for helping make the day a success.
Last week, we also celebrated our first field trip of the year as Ms. Davila led her Chicken Crew and Eco Ambassador Clubs to the Environmental Education Center. Field trips are always such a special way to bring learning to life, and we are grateful for the preparation and care that went into making this experience memorable for students.
Looking ahead, we are especially excited to participate in our first Best Buddies Friendship Walk tomorrow. A big thank you to Ms. Powell and Ms. Andring for spearheading this opportunity, along with Ms. Devoe, Ms. Bergman, and Ms. Johnson for their support in planning. Events like this remind us how strong our community is when we come together in support of our students.
An arborist, along with the DISD grounds team, has visited our campus twice to assess our trees and vegetation for overall health and any potential safety risks. We are grateful for their expert advice and the quick response from their crews, who have already begun work in our LOLA areas and along the Wendover fence line.
Their recommendations will guide ongoing care through the fall, including removing trees that pose safety concerns, maintaining the health of existing trees, and planning for thoughtful replacements where needed. This partnership ensures our campus remains both safe and beautiful for our students, staff, and families. We also appreciate our Lakewood community for continuing to support the care of our campus, making it a welcoming and safe environment for all.
