LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY TURNS 75!
A Legacy of Learning. A Future of Possibilities.

Lakewood Elementary is celebrating 75 years of learning, traditions and community! Since its founding in 1951, generations of Stallions have called Lakewood home—and this year, our current students get to become part of that history.

Throughout the 2026–27 school year, we’ll celebrate Lakewood’s past, present and future with special events, classroom activities, historical displays and plenty of blue-and-gold school spirit. We can’t wait to celebrate with our students, families, alumni and the entire Lakewood community!

Lakewood Opens Its Doors: A Community Homecoming
Saturday, November 7 | 2-4 PM

We’re opening Lakewood’s doors and inviting our entire community back to school! Held in conjunction with the
50th Annual Lakewood Home Tour, this special afternoon is for current families, alumni, former teachers and staff, neighbors and friends of Lakewood.

The celebration will kick off with a flag ceremony and dedication of our new Lakewood flag, led by the Woodrow Wilson High School JROTC alongside Lakewood Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Afterward, explore the school, take a student-led tour, revisit Lakewood history and reconnect with generations of Stallions.

Calling all Lakewood generations! We’ll gather for a special multigenerational community photo with our new Lakewood flag at approximately 2:30 PM. If Lakewood is part of your family story, we would love to have you in the photo!

Celebrating The Next Generation of Stallions
Friday, November 13

On Friday, November 13, the celebration turns to the people carrying Lakewood’s legacy forward: our students!

During this special schoolwide celebration, students and staff will honor Lakewood’s past, present and future alongside former Lakewood educators, Dallas ISD leaders and special guests.

As part of the celebration, Lakewood teachers will lead students in creating special items for our 75th Anniversary Time Capsule during the school day. Together, our students will help preserve a snapshot of what it is like to be a Lakewood Stallion in 2026. The time capsule will remain sealed until Lakewood’s 100th anniversary in 2051, when a future generation of Stallions will get to discover what today’s students left behind!

This is a school-day celebration for current Lakewood students and staff and invited guests.

Happy 75th Birthday, Lakewood!

Monday, December 7 | 75th Day of School

It wouldn’t be a 75th anniversary without a birthday party!

On the 75th day of school, Lakewood students will celebrate with birthday cake at lunch and a schoolwide trip through the decades.

Each grade level will represent a different era of Lakewood history:

  • Kindergarten: 2000s–Today
  • 1st Grade: 1970s
  • 2nd Grade: 1990s
  • 3rd Grade: 1980s
  • 4th Grade: 1950s & 1960s
  • 5th Grade: The Future

Students are encouraged to dress in their grade level’s decade and help us fill the school with 75 years of Lakewood history—from the fabulous ’50s all the way to the future!

75 Years of Lakewood. And We're Just Getting Started!

Our students are part of something much bigger than themselves: 75 years of students, teachers, families, friendships and traditions. We hope this anniversary gives every Stallion a chance to learn about the generations who came before them while imagining what Lakewood might look like for the generations still to come.

A Legacy of Learning. A Future of Possibilities.
