The Leader In Me program is important because it transforms school culture by fostering a "whole-child" mindset, teaching leadership and developing essential life skills based on The 7 Habits of Happy Kids. 

Lakewood Elementary adopted the Leader In Me program because it increases student engagement, improves academic performance, and reduces behavioral issues by empowering students to take initiative, set goals, and feel a sense of belonging.  The Super Stallion program awards 2 students per class based on 2 habits each 9 weeks.
