TECHNOLOGY & SCREEN TIME

At Lakewood, technology is a tool used to enhance strong instruction, not replace it. Our goal is to ensure students engage in active technology use that encourages critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, discussion, and application. We are intentional about limiting passive use, such as scrolling or watching content without meaningful engagement.

Teachers actively monitor student devices through Apple Classroom in kindergarten and first grade and LANSchool Air in grades two through five. These tools allow teachers to guide students, view device activity, and help ensure technology is being used safely and purposefully.

Please review the classroom screen time guidelines below for more information about expectations by grade level. If you have questions about how technology is used in your child’s classroom, please contact your student’s homeroom teacher.
