STUDENT CLUBS

 

From academic competitions and leadership opportunities to the arts, athletics, and service, our student clubs help Stallions explore new interests, build friendships, and grow beyond the classroom. Opportunities vary by grade level and are offered throughout the year. Watch for participation information from your child's homeroom teacher, campus communications, and The Stallion Spotlight.

  

 

Best Buddies | 2nd-5th Grade

Helps bring one-to-one friendships to elementary schools, helping students in special education form social connections within the school environment, promoting inclusive friendships, building leadership skills, and promoting a culture of respect at school.

Best Buddies Club (2nd-5th): Open to all students who complete an application. We will meet once a month on Friday mornings at 7:15AM in the auditorium. Members will participate in educational activities, challenges, and leadership opportunities on campus.

Friendship Program (3rd-5th): This program is for third through fifth graders, with participants selected by a staff committee. The purpose is to pair students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. These paired students will plan to meet once a week with their buddy during school

Cheer | 5th Grade
Cheerleaders promote school spirit and high academic standards by performing district competitions and special events around campus. Students attend school-based clinics that teach teamwork, leadership, and cheering skills.

Chess | Kinder-5th Grade
Students practice and compete in chess, developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills. They play on campus and at Dallas ISD tournaments.

Chicken Crew | 4th-5th Grade - learn more!
A hands-on opportunity to help care for Lakewood’s chickens, learn about animal care, and maintain our outdoor learning space.

Debate | 5th Grade
Fifth graders research topics, prepare arguments, and participate in debate workshops and tournaments. This club strengthens critical thinking and public speaking skills.

Destination Imagination | 3rd-5th Grade
Teams work together to solve open-ended challenges in areas such as engineering, improvisation, service learning, fine arts, and science. DI inspires creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork.

Eco Ambassadors | 3rd-5th Grade
Students promote environmental stewardship through recycling.

Like traditional sports, esports develops teamwork, communication, and leadership. Students practice weekly and compete in tournaments playing games such as Rocket League, Smash Bros., Fortnite, and Mario Kart.

Students grow and care for plants in our campus garden while learning about science, sustainability, and gardening.

A theme-based, multi-subject academic team competition where students demonstrate knowledge in math, literature, science, and social studies.

Students build endurance, set personal running goals, and stay active together in a supportive environment while learning about healthy habits and celebrating progress.

Students design, build, and program robots for classroom challenges and competitions. This club promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.

University Interscholastic League events challenge students to think critically while complementing the curriculum. Events include Ready Writing, Number Sense, Social Studies, Spelling, Story Telling and more.
